Valencia Basket faces the challenge of ending Real Madrid’s winning streak in the Liga Endesa

Liga Endesa round 30

Miguel Ángel Polo

Valencia Basket men's team faces its toughest challenge yet in the Liga Endesa as they try to end a 17-game winning streak by their opponents with a visit to Real Madrid’s court (Sunday 4th, 18:30h, Movistar Arena, Movistarplus+/Movistar Deportes) in a Round 30 clash of the national competition.

Interestingly, the Taronja team was the last to defeat Real Madrid in the Liga Endesa, when they claimed an 85-84 victory in the first leg game thanks to a game-winning three-pointer by Matt Costello that capped off a dramatic comeback.

This matchup between two teams that have already secured a spot in the Playoffs and are now fighting for the best possible seeding in the final rounds brings together a Valencia Basket side with the league’s top offensive numbers against a Real Madrid team boasting the best defensive efficiency both in Liga Endesa and in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

The game will also feature nine of the top ten players in the league in terms of plus/minus rating.

One of them, point guard Chris Jones, will remain unavailable for this game due to ongoing issues with his left knee, joining long-term injured player Ethan Happ on the sidelines.

Valencia Basket heads into this matchup sitting third in the Liga Endesa standings, with a 21-8 record.
